X-TRAK - Mountain Bike Trail |
The bike trail is open April to September only. The mountain bikes provided are suitable for ages 10+ only.
Due to the nature of the course riders should be reasonably confident cyclists. Helmets/safety pads are provided.
A leader MUST supervise the use of the bikes and the course AT ALL TIMES, riders must stick to the course.

There are 8 bikes available and this is the recommended maximum number to be on the course at one time. |

X-BOW - Mini Crossbows |
The mini-crossbows are suitable for all ages, a paper target can be kept as a souvenir.
No instructor or permit is required, these are low power mini-crossbows.
A leader MUST supervise the use of the mini-crossbows AT ALL TIMES.

There is sufficent space for 3 shooters at once, and the turnaround is quite quick so large numbers can be supported. |

Traverse Wall |
The traverse wall is a two-sided wall with four routes of varying difficulty. 8 safety helmets are provided.
It is particularly suited to the 6 to 14 age group, but can be used by all ages.
No instructor or permit is required, a leader MUST supervise the use of the wall AT ALL TIMES.

There are 8 safety helmets provided and this is the maximum safe number to be on the wall at any one time, there is a waiting area for those waiting their turn. |

Climbing Tower |
The tower is a six-faced, 6 metre high tower with each face having two routes of varying difficulty.
The tower can be used by all ages, including adults.
A climbing permit holder is required to use the tower. As of June 2010 Bushy Wood cannot routinely provide instructors OR equipment for the use of the tower. However, if local groups can secure the use of one of the local instructors they have access to the necessary equipment.

In general use the tower can have 3 climbers on it at any one time. |

Please note - the wall and tower share the same compound, as a result for safety reasons, if one is in use, the other is not available for booking by another group.

Archery Range |
The archery range is an outdoor 10 metre facility, with covered shooting point (photos soon).
A GNAS Archery Leader Award holder is required for use of the range. As of June 2010 Bushy Wood cannot routinely provide instructors OR equipment for the use of the range . However, if local groups can secure the use of one of the local instructors they have access to the necessary equipment which is on loan courtesy of the 11th Eastbourne Scout Group. |
The archery range can support a maximum of 6 shooters at any one time, but this is at the discretion of the Archery Leader, and will depend on the type of equipment in use as well. |

Orienteering |
Bushy Wood has a single orienteering course of modest size.
Supplied in the orienteering kit are maps, compasses, clipboards, pens/pencils.

There are at least 8 sets of compasses etc available, participants can of course be paired up, or placed in groups. |
